Bernadette was my eldest child. She developed asthma when she was 8yrs old but it was well
controlled by her inhalers. When she was 13 she was hospitalised for the first time.
Bernadette loved football and supported Celtic. She bought her first season ticket when she was 21
and it was a dream come true for her. As her asthma worsened Bernadette was retired from her work
just before her 21st birthday but her football gave her something to focus on. In fact, when she was
admitted to hospital usually the first question was " Where are Celtic playing this week-end"? if
the answer was at Home the doctors knew then they were in for a hard time as Bernadette would want
to be out for the Game!!! If all else failed she would sign herself out!!As a result of her asthma
Bernadette wasn't able to socialise as pubs, clubs etc. were too smoky.
Bernadette had her last asthma attack on Thursday 31st October 2001 just 19 days after her 29th
birthday, she suffered irreversible brain damage and was in a coma for 10 weeks. She died peacefully
on 11th January 2002 with me by her side.
Later on in August that year I walked my other daughter down the aisle at her wedding. Although not
there in person Bernadette was definitely there in spirit. In 2004 I became a granma for the first
time. Bernadette would have loved her little niece and would have thoroughly spoiled her.
Bernadette was not only my lassie she was a sister, a granddaughter, a niece, a cousin. Everyone
misses her so much and remembers her in their own way. We know she looks after us and she still
often makes her presence felt around the house.
Peace in Heaven.
When things were at their very worst
and God saw how ill you were
He looked down and said 'no more'
You have had your share.
He lifted you up to Heaven
He took you Home again
Where He could make you comfortable
And take away your pain.
It's us who bear the pain now
The pain of missing you
But one thought drives us all on
That we know will get us through
For you there's no more suffering
That's all in the past
And we've still got lovely memories
We know will always last
**********
We think about you always,
we talk about you still,
you have never been forgotten,
and you never will.
We hold you close within our hearts,
and there you will remain,
to walk with us throughout our lives
until we meet again.

Memories of You
At Ghristmastime and always
you are very close in mind
and lovingly remembered
by the hearts you left behind.
No star can shine as brightly
as each precious thought of you
Like evergreens, they always stay
just perfect all year through.
Wish we could be together
once again on Christmas day
for you are missed
so very much
Far more than words can say.
You'll never walk alone.

A Child Loaned
" I'll lend you for a little time
a child of Mine" he said
"For you to love the while she lives
And mourn for when she's dead
It may be 6 or 7 years
Or twenty two or three
But will you till I call her back
Take care of her for me
She'll bring her charms to gladden you
And should her stay be brief
You'll have her lovely memories
As solace for your grief.
sweetdreams
Tear drops, slow and steady,
The pain so real and true,
God took another angel,
And that angel, dear, was you.
Angel wings, upon the clouds,
Your body softly sleeps,
Hush now princess,
No more tears you have to weep.
prayers,are sent to you,
The short life you led;
Your family will never forget you,
So rest your head.
I know God will look after you,
Now you are truly alive,
Your spirit soars beyond the moon,
Your legacy will survive.
You’re beautiful, you’re endless,
Now stretch your wings and fly,
Your loved by so many,
It will never be goodbye.
Close your pretty eyes,
No more tears, just go and rest,
Let your soul lie peacefully,
we know you did your best.
Hi Bernadette I was just thinking what we would be doing if you were still here. We would be getting ready to leave for Celtic park so you could see your beloved Celtic. Uncle Johm keeps your seat warm these days. I've managed to go once but was very tearful and didn't see much of the game!! Your team's doing well just now. They are at the top of the league but out of Europe.
After the football we always had curry do you remember?
You were so special Bernadette and so brave throughout all the hospital admissions I don't know how I would have coped.
Sleep & breath easy my lovely. Till we meet again xxxx
